The BRHMS Ringers are advanced ringers from the newly formed Bow River Handbell Musicians Society (BRHMS). This group of dedicated adult musicians perform in and around the Calgary area to bring the musical art form that is handbell ringing to the people of southern Alberta. Whether busking, participating in performances with other groups, or putting on full-length concerts themselves, the teams of BRHMS challenge themselves with a variety of styles and genres, from classical to rock and everything in between. Whether it’s the small, portable ensembles using just twelve bells to large-stage groups using 74 bells and hand chimes, the teams of BRHMS bring a unique musical experience to their audiences that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to the ear. www.bowriverbells.com
At this time of year, the Bow River Handbell Musicians Society Ringers (made up of 6 advanced ringers from 4 of the BRHMS handbell teams) especially enjoy sharing their favourite handbell music. This Christmas-themed program is diverse and varied; you will hear sacred and secular Christmas and holiday favorites, as well as some well-known Classical melodies. The handbell repertoire is arranged with care, to highlight the best sound and beauty of the bells. Joined by pianist Ida du Toit, the BRHMS Ringers will delight audiences with this unique musical instrument.
