In this concert, Mustafa Kamaliddin will performer a wide range of repertoire from fantasies and chansons of the 16th century, 17th century Spanish dances, to 19th century character pieces by Tarrega and Malats. Hidden in there would be some non-classical gems that will surely entertain!
This opera contains everything you might desire from a plot, including the real-life romance between Adriana and Maurizio, her rivalry with Princess de Bouillon, and her unexpected and mysterious death. Love, infidelity, murder, and glorious music...it doesn't get more "opera-plot" than that!
Performing music by two of the greatest jazz musicians, classical/jazz fusion ensemble Clicquot Trio pay tribute to the music of Chick Corea and Bill Evans. This concert includes some of their most famous compositions for trio as well as some lesser-known works – performed by Claire Butler piano, Stefano Valdo bass and Reuben Grendus on drums.
For this concert, 6 living composers from diverse backgrounds have come together to create a program that pushes the boundaries of traditional organ music. Each composition is a testament to the organ's timeless grandeur, skillfully exploring its vast tonal palette to craft sound worlds that embrace the spirit of the modern age while honoring the rich heritage of the king of instruments.
This program is a reflection of our shared backgrounds as classical musicians who are interested in music exploration through arrangement, improvisation and conversation.
The concert will highlight original material from John Rutherford’s new recording Midnight Microphone and songs from his 2010 release Echo Broadcast. With mythical and historical blues references woven within his stories, songs and award winning guitar sound Rutherford creates a powerful and poetic homage to the blues.
Deb Rasmussen (vocal) and Jon Day (piano) began their musical collaboration in earnest at the most unexpected time – the midst of COVID. From that remote work sprang the CD UNSPOKEN, released in 2022, featuring Deb’s original works arranged by Jon as well as refreshing takes on jazz standards.
This contemporary English recital features works by Canadian composers, Imant Raminsh and Robert Flemming, as well as American composers Jake Heggie and Jay Althouse.
Darren Johnson has been a fixture on the Canadian blues and roots scene – working with the likes of Amos Garrett, Tim Williams, Jim Byrnes, John Lee Sanders, and The Blind Boys of Alabama to name a few.
Born and raised in Calgary, Canada, Andrea Hill has had the honour of performing on stages that include the Metropolitan Opera New York, l’Opéra National de Paris, Covent Garden London, Teatro alla Scala Milan, and at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence
