Jossy Gallegos and Tim Williams

Beautiful guitar music and song is sure to flow freely at this unique concert featuring local blues legend Tim Williams and his special singer/songwriter guest Jossy Gallegos of Zihuatanejo, Mexico. ¡Viva la Musica!

Jossy Gallegos is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter from the small town of Petatlan, in the Mexican state of Guerrero.  She was performing in the Petatlan/Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa/Acapulco area at age 9.   At age 16 she moved to the U.S., where her studies expanded to include opera, rock, pop, and ranchera.  Since returning to Mexico 5 years later, she has recorded three cds : Al Naturel (cover songs), Pajarillo (Little Bird, new and mostly original music), and the brand new Hormonia.  Jossy and Tim met at the Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival in March of this year, and a spontaneous performance of the classic “Mi Ranchito” led to the concept of recording together, and to a week of concerts in Calgary.

Tim Williams is one of Canada’s most acclaimed, and award-winning, blues musicians.  But his growing up in Southern California exposed him to the music of the Mexican population of Los Angeles, leading to a lifetime love affair.  He frequently makes stops in Mexico either as a touring musician or to simply recharge the creative batteries, and he has appeared in Cuba as well.  Winner of the International Blues Challenge (Memphis TN) and the Calgary Blues Music Association’s Guitarist of the Year, Hall of Fame, and Lifetime Achievement awards (among many), Tim plans to release a new recording featuring the Mexican influence on his music later this year.
