Over the past 3 years Mustafa Kamaliddin has established himself as one of the leading figures in Fingerstyle ukulele worldwide by publishing more than 250 arrangements for the ukulele. These arrangements range from simple short etudes by Sor and Carulli, to vituosic adaptations of Beethoven and Scarlatti sonatas, complete Bach cello suites, virtuosic concert repertoire by Albeniz, Tarrega, and Villa Lobos, to solo arrangements of rock and pop classic and modern hits by Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Sting, Michael Jackson, and Justin Bieber! This new solo repertoire pushes the limits of the little instrument and challenges previous stereotype of what it can do and its reputation as a ‘toy-strumming’ instrument.
A classical guitarist by trade, Kamaliddin completed his masters degree in music performance on the ukulele in 2023, alongside performances on period instruments.
Kamaliddin is also an online influencer in the ukulele education field and is the owner of YouTube channel MK Fingerstyle Academy. His arrangements have gathered more than 2 million views on social media and tens of thousands of followers for his online platforms. His academy has over 700 students in its relatively short lifetime and its main focus is creating online music education tools for adult students to make learning music, and the ukulele, more affordable and accessible to all.
In this concert, Mustafa Kamaliddin will perform a wide range of repertoire from fantasies and chansons of the 16th century, 17th century Spanish dances, to 19th century character pieces by Tarrega and Malats. Hidden in there would be some non-classical gems that will surely entertain!
