This is Flamenco: The “Sometimes-You-Can’t-Find-A-Flamenco-Singer-When-You-Need-One” Edition

Rosanna initiated the This is Flamenco series in 2012, to share the powerful trinity of flamenco song, guitar and dance with Calgary audiences. Sometimes that distance between Spain and Calgary can prove challenging, and so this edition sees Rosanna channelling the masters of traditional flamenco song using only locally sourced musical resources.

Rosanna Terracciano will be joined by David Matyas on flamenco guitar and Jonathan Lewis on violin, plus special guest vocalist (and Rosanna’s lovely, dear aunt) Domenica Vizzutti.

The Artist’s Statement:

I am an independent flamenco dance artist.
I dedicate my work to developing a distinct and personal voice at the intersection of flamenco, dance, contemporary performance and short film.
My work is driven by the creative possibilities of the flamenco art form, and the stimulating discourse that continues to evolve on topics pertaining to creative freedom within such a structured form that is so deeply rooted in tradition.
I aim to expose the vulnerable, introverted and muted sides of flamenco.
Mostly, I create to satisfy my relentless search for all things beautiful.
