Under the direction of Neil Cockburn, PhD (Musicology), the Mount Royal University Conservatory’s Purcell Early Music Ensemble is a community-based music group that focuses on an Historically Informed Performance approach to pre-19th century repertoire. Advanced students (grade 9 or higher) participate in a flexible year long program. Ensemble players include keyboard, strings, winds (particularly flute and oboe) and vocalists.
