Calgary pianist and teacher, Roxanne Laycock Bingham, is a native of Lethbridge, Alberta.
She earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, studying there with Diane Cross and Dr. Paul Pollei.
She has taught for many years in the Mount Royal University Conservatory and is a regular performer and adjudicator.
Roxanne has served on the International Advisory Board of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition.
She has varied musical interests and is currently studying the oboe. Roxanne will be joined by clarinetist Reina Gomez for this special concert.
Reina Gomez obtained an undergraduate degree in music performance (clarinet) with distinction from the University of Calgary in 2000, and she has completed one year towards her graduate degree.
The clarinet grabbed her interest at the age of 11. Even though she never received any private instruction on the instrument, she was fortunate to have had excellent music teachers and band programs during her junior and senior high school days. She earned her A.R.C.T. in vocal performance and remains active as a soloist in and around the city of Calgary.
Reina is an avid reader and enjoys sculpting, needlework, quilling and has a great love of animals.
