Alex Boisselle is a survivor, he has sustained a 20-year musical career as a percussionist, rhythm guitar player, lead vocalist, lap slide/harmonica and singer/songwriter. His is a story of perseverance and keepin’ on.
In 2007 during a 4 year run of performing his original music full time he sustained a career ending repetitive strain injury to his chord hand. After some careful consideration, he re-emerged as a lapslide player, adding harmonica and lead chops. Some fine demo submissions won Alex a label deal with the EAR DRUM VALLEY LABEL. His newfound lapslide guitar song writing style was the magic he’d long been looking for. He continues to thrive and expand his musical palette in 2013 with a mix of original Roots/Cajun/Rebel Country/Folk and Blues stylings along with interesting takes on music by The Band, Dylan, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Pogues, John Prine and other Roots favourites.
Alex now plays solo and in different combinations with good friends. His band of gentleman ASHBURY TRAIN is a constant revolving group of top shelf musicians coming together to create an ever-changing soundscape and fresh musical style.
In 2011 and 2012 Alex logged over 230 shows in and around Alberta, as a solo act and with ASHBURY TRAIN. He would personally like to extend an invitation for all to join him for his “2013 year of community” and wishes everyone the best of health and good times
