Described by Bravo TV as “a national treasure,” Winnipeg born Diana McIntosh is an active composer and performer on the Prairie scene. She performs piano both solo and with various chamber musicians ensembles and has played in venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the cargo bay of a Bristol Freighter aeroplane and Nairobi, Kenya.
In recent years she has attained a high profile for her one-woman, inter-disciplinary creations; in which she explores the use of voiced texts in a theatrical relationship with music.
One of these works, which she will perform in Calgary on March 06, 2013 is a solo piano and spoken text work titled Aunt Kate. It depicts the life of McIntosh’s aunt, a quirky, pioneering woman with all sorts of astounding and hilarious stories to tell.
