The ProArts@Noon Concert Series is pleased to announce a unique series of four concerts featuring emerging performing artists. ‘Emerging artists’ are often considered to be artists 5 to 10 years out of their artistic education, or up to age 30. However, some artists continue to emerge past that point, particularly if they do not often have the chance to share their work publicly.
The Harry & Martha Cohen Foundation awarded Calgary’s ProArts Society funding to undertake the Emerging Artist Concert Series, which will feature a diverse selection of performing arts genres.
This special series will be part of the ProArts@Noon weekly schedule of Wednesday concerts.
Now in its twentieth season, the ProArts@Noon Concert Series is a free, noon hour concert series presented by the ProArts Society; who rent the historic Cathedral Church in the heart of Calgary’s Cultural District for their weekly concerts every Wednesday, all year ‘round.
THE 2022 HARRY AND MARTHA COHEN FOUNDATION EMERGING ARTIST SERIES:
Soundboard Piano Tour March 16, 2022
Five years ago, U of C piano Professor Lana Henchell launched the Soundboard Music Tour—a performance touring program designed to promote classical music, offer educational enrichment to aspiring musicians, and create awareness of the arts in Alberta. The students must play in multiple venues throughout the tour, thus giving them a glimpse into the unique experience and challenges of playing a concert tour.
Anna & Daiga Stube Duo April 27, 2022
Anna and Daiga Stube are a mother-daughter violin-piano duo based in Calgary, Alberta. Together, they have established a local reputation for their beautiful renditions in both the classical repertoire and beyond with selections ranging from Schubert to Frank Sinatra. Anna and Daiga are devoted to sharing the compassion and humanity music offers with the ProArts Society audience.
Duo Fratelli June 01, 2022
As a viola/cello duo, these two very gifted musical brothers most often perform modern repertoire together, although they have also enjoyed transcribing other genres for their instruments. They are pleased to present a program of 20th and 21st Century classical music, featuring repertoire from well known composers such as Hindemith and Piston, as well as the lesser known Norwegian composer Kjell Marcussen (a friend of the CPO’s own Rune Bergmann).
