Karen Gummo and Jan Mclean are both veteran storytellers who have come together to tell stories on and off for 20 years. TALES The Alberta League Encouraging Storytelling has been a home community for them.
Jan McLean has been regaling folks with stories ever since she learned to speak. While her main career is as petroleum engineer, she has performed in cafes and at storytelling concerts, accompanied choirs and church groups with her delightful stories for countless years. She has many eager listeners who long for Jan to bend their ears. She is woman of wit and wisdom.
With a background in drawing, painting, dance and teaching, Karen Gummo has carried out numerous storytelling residencies in schools and libraries as well as at the Kids Creative Museum for 15 years now. She toured Newfoundland for the Canadian Children’s Book Centre and travelled widely across Alberta with the Young Alberta Book Society Taleblazer’s Tour. Stories are the centre of her being.
