Playing together in the Jack Singer Lobby (opening for Joey Alexander) Lorna, Richard Harding and Johnny Summers had such a great time they decided to do it again on May 1st bringing this trio together to play Lorna’s music. “I know it will sound beautiful as it always does in this space”.

With piano/vocals, sax and trumpet, the trio paints beautiful pictures of Lorna’s original music in a style somewhere between jazz, folk and classical.

Lorna MacLachlan has been writing and performing music for many years in and around Calgary with many different musicians. She has written for Theatre Calgary, CBC, Decidedly Jazz Dance works, individual and corporate commissions and for 6 full length CDs of original music for the Lorna MacLachlan Quartet and Quintet. The last CD being nominated for Outstanding Jazz album of 2019 at the YYC Music Awards.

Richard Harding is a very busy saxophonist who plays with the CPO, Prime Time, Calgary Jazz Orchestra and for numerous other artists locally and nationally. He is also an amazing educator who continues to work as a clinician in and around Calgary.

Johnny Summers is best know as the leader of the Calgary Jazz Orchestra. He is also a fantastic trumpet player and vocalist. His arrangements and compositions can be heard by attending the CJO concerts which happen regularly in the Bella Concert Hall at the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts.
