The Project is an acoustic blues and roots music trio, featuring Wayne Corner, George Campbell & Rick Lett. We play old string music that has great stories and deep grooves; we like to involve the audience in singing; we sing strongly ourselves; and we play well together.

Our music sources are eclectic attachments to the roots of roots music: Bessie Smith, Jimmie Rogers, Pink Anderson (from the 20’s), Ray Charles, Thelonious Monk, Professor Longhair (from the 50’s and 60’s), Willie P. Bennett, Gretchen Peters, Randy Newman (from more recent days). We add our original songs to this mix when they fit. Our concerts are a gumbo of songs about love, natural disasters, the occasional hanging, hope and despair. Just like life, but with more foot tapping.

For our October 09 concert, we will feature the work of great songwriters: Bob Dylan, Bessie Smith, Huddy Ledbetter, Gretchen Peters, Thelonious Monk and others. There will be some love lost, a plea from jail, a flood and silver linings in many of those clouds. You will be encouraged to sing heartily with a few good choruses. ~The Project
