Inspired by bands such as the Chieftains, the Tannahill Weavers, Tamarack, the Boys of the Lough, the Battlefield Band, and the Friends of Fiddler's Green, Ken learned mostly Irish and Scottish tunes on the whistle, and played with the band Conor's Revenge in and around Calgary

The German Canadian Male Chorus of Calgary has been singing since 1971. Currently there are 36 members in the choir, many with other backgrounds other than German. The sound of an all-male choir draws many men to the choir.
