
We feel Beethoven’s Spring Sonata is perfect for an April concert! Kevin and I will be performing together four times next week in Portland, which will give us a great opportunity to refine our collaboration ahead of this concert.

Derek Chiu, piano
Derek Zhi Guang Chiu is a Canadian pianist, educator, and Steinway Artist known for his versatility in performance, teaching, and adjudication. He has performed extensively across North America and Europe, and has premiered numerous contemporary works. Chiu is recognized as an outstanding teacher, earning multiple Top Piano Teacher Awards from Steinway & Sons in Calgary. He is dedicated to music education and works with students of all levels, many of whom have earned top honors in competitions. Chiu is also on the faculty of the Cremona International Music Academy and Festival and the Vancouver Island Music Academy.

Kevin A. Lefohn, violin
Hailed as a “barnstorming violin exponent” (Flying Inkpot, Singapore), violinist Kevin A. Lefohn maintains an international career as recital soloist, chamber musician, conductor, and educator. His frequent chamber music collaborations and numerous recital performances have earned international acclaim, with performances, workshops, and masterclasses presented throughout Australia, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, the United States, and South East Asia. He is a National Recording Artist for Radio New Zealand Concert and has frequently performed on Thursdays at Three, All Classical Radio’s live performance show. He currently holds a faculty teaching position at Pacific University, is Artist in Residence at the Cremona International Music Academy and Festival in Cremona, Italy and Vancouver Island International Music Academy, in British Columbia, Canada, and maintains in-person and online private studios.
