

The Coimbra Duo (Lana Henchell and Carmen Morin) made their international debut with orchestra in Coimbra, Portugal as winners of the Special Prize “Francis Poulenc” at the 2018 Coimbra World Piano Competition.
Since Lana Henchell‘s concerto debut with the Calgary Civic Symphony at age 13, she has performed as soloist with several orchestras, including the University of Calgary Orchestra, the Calgary Civic Symphony, the Montreal Chamber Orchestra and the McGill Symphony. Lana obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano performance at the University of Calgary, and later went on to receive her Doctoral degree in piano performance from McGill University. She now teaches privately and sessionally at the University of Calgary and adjudicates festivals around the province.
Carmen Morin made her debut with the Calgary Civic Symphony at age 10. She completed her ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music and a Performance Diploma from Mount Royal University before pursuing her Bachelor of Music from the University of Calgary. She was on faculty at the Mount Royal University Conservatory between 2008-2013, after which, she established Morin Music Studio in 2014. In addition to her role as a committed pedagogue and clinician, Carmen enjoys her position as owner and executive director of Morin Music Studio, a private music school that offers classical music instruction to over 700 students in Calgary.
