The Black Sea is a musical project dedicated to exploring the colourful and vast Klezmer tradition (Eastern European Jewish wedding music) and related styles. For this special concert, it combines klezmer and yiddish music with Turkish, Persian and Arabic instruments and songs. 

Irfan Ulas-Aydogdu (saz, vocals); Bijan Maysami (santur); Greg Rumpel (accordion); Allan Merovitz (vocals); Frank Rackow (clarinet) and Yahya Al-Lahib on percussion.

This concert is the first in a series of three concerts in January 2017 co-presented with the High Performance Rodeo, Calgary’s International Festival of the Arts.
