Born and raised in Calgary, Rob Maciak graduated with distinction from the University of Calgary ‘s Department of Music in June of 2005, following which he started working as a freelance musician and educator. Rob’s range of performance experience includes contemporary chamber music, orchestral and wind orchestra music, latin, jazz, fusion, and contemporary and jazz dance accompaniment. He has performed across Europe, North America and Oceania. Rob is currently a section percussionist with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, and has collaborated with artists including James de Sousa, the Foreman-van Mourik Piano Duo, Mark Michalak, Glen Montgomery, the United States Army Brass Quintet and the Vancouver Chamber Choir. Rob has instructed for the University of Lethbridge, the Banff Centre, the Vic Lewis International Music Festival, the Canadian Forces and over four hundred intermediary and secondary school music programmes across five provinces and eight of the United States.
