Sterling Hunte, Music from the Heart

Music from the Heart – sometimes with a Caribbean slant. Sterling will be performing a montage of his original compositions. Some songs are sung with an original backing track, and other songs are accompanied by pan drums. Featuring Gospel to raggae to Calypso music – all created from the 2005 to present.

Sterling Hunte got his start in Liverpool, England and has now been in the music business for over twenty years, performing and recording regularly in his home base of Calgary.

Sterling  was honoured to appear in the 1988 Olympic cultural Festival, where he performed an original composition and also performed with The Nylons. Another memorable performance was a three night Latin concert with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in 1994.

In 2003 Sterling  produced my first recording “Sterling’s Own” and in 2005 he was winner of the coveted local Calgary Calypso Monarch competition.

Sterling received two nominations for Gospel Song of the Year at the 31st Gospel Music Association Canada Covenant Awards in 2009.

In 2015 Sterling released his new recording Creation Story.

Sterling’s diversity playing steel drums and other instruments, as well as his unique song writing and vocal abilities have made him a crowd pleaser at concerts everywhere.

This presentation was a scheduled production in the High Performance Rodeo. At this time the High Performance Rodeo is not proceeding for January 18 – February 6. For further information and a list of events proceeding by community partners, please visit www.HPRodeo.ca
