Collegium Musicum at the University of Calgary has been focussed this year on a semi-staged performance of Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. In this concert you will hear excerpts of the full opera (solos, short scenes, and choruses) with student singers and continuo players.
The University of Calgary’s Collegium Musicum is dedicated to exploring music from the baroque period and earlier. Each term has a particular area of focus, and students are exposed to as much repertoire as possible while also looking at performance practice issues and historical context.
