Mount Royal Zhi-Yin Choir

Founded in Calgary in 2004, the Mount Royal Zhi-Yin Choir is a non-profit community choir brought together by a shared love of singing, friendship, and cultural connection.

Led by founder and conductor Shana Yang, our choir is made up of adults from diverse backgrounds and professions. Though we come from different walks of life, we are united by one simple joy: the love of music and the desire to share it with others.

“Zhi-Yin” means a friend who understands your music and your heart. This spirit is at the heart of our choir. Through Chinese popular and classical repertoire, we celebrate the beauty of Chinese music while creating connections across cultures and generations.

Over the years, the Zhi-Yin Choir has performed for audiences in Calgary and beyond, including Edmonton, Vancouver, New York, and Taipei. Every performance is an opportunity for us to share not only our voices, but also a piece of our culture, our memories, and our passion for music.

For us, singing is more than making music together. It is about listening, connecting, and bringing people closer through harmony.

We hope that when you hear us sing, you will find a familiar melody, discover something new, or simply enjoy a beautiful moment in the middle of a busy day.

This concert is the seventh in a series of many Choral Concerts during 2026 that is generously sponsored by:
