Canadian mezzo soprano Barbara King is thrilling audiences with her “exquisite vocal command of a three octave range” and the possession of a “warm, agile mezzo-soprano voice”.
Ms. King recently made her debut with Edmonton Opera as Olga (THE MERRY WIDOW) and also displayed her gymnastics and dance abilities as a Grisette.
Barbara’s credits include Carmen (CARMEN), Laura (LA GIOCONDA), Dorabella (COSÌ FAN TUTTE), Maddalena (RIGOLETTO), Donna Elvira (DON GIOVANNI), Romeo (I CAPULETI ED I MONTECCHI), The Third Lady (THE MAGIC FLUTE), and Frugola (IL TABARRO).
Ms. King has had the pleasure of singing with Calgary Opera, Edmonton Opera, Opera Kelowna, Opera Nuova, Tuscia Opera Festival (Viterbo, Italy), Mercury Opera, Opera by Request, Amalfi Coast Music Festival (Italy), Barrie’s Colours of Music Festival, Cowtown Opera and Calgary Concert Opera Company.
International concert performances include Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall, New York), Felton Fleet Academy (Surrey, England), The Opera Institute of California (San Jose), Coesfeld Germany, and the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute in Montréal.
A native of Montréal, Québec, Barbara currently resides in Calgary, Alberta, where she and her husband founded Calgary Concert Opera Company.

Hailing from Okotoks Alberta, Bass-baritone Ian Fundytus is a graduate of the University of Lethbridge where he studied vocal performance with Dr. Blaine Hendsbee. An active performer on the opera stage, Ian has been involved with the U of L Opera Workshop, singing in productions such as Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors (King Balthasar) and The Old Maid and the Thief (Bob), Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (Frank), Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Papageno) and The Marriage of Figaro (Figaro). Ian has also performed with Opera NUOVA in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos (Truffaldino) and Donizetti’s L’Elisir D’Amore (Dr. Dulcamara); Calgary Concert Opera in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte (Guglielmo), Ponchielli’s La Gioconda (Zuane, A Pilot, Singer); and the Halifax Summer Opera Festival in Floyd’s Susannah (Rev. Olin Blitch). This year, Ian looks forward to performing the role of Alidoro in Cowtown Opera’s take on Rossini’s Cenerentola – ‘Ella!
