Calgarian soprano Brittany Rae, recently completed a Master of Arts in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She was an active participant in several ensembles at the RCS, including the RCS Voices chamber choir and Les Sirènes female chamber choir. In 2015, Brittany was a semi-finalist in the Norma Greig French Song Prize Competition and competed in the Bromsgrove International Young Musicians Competition. She also took part in British Youth Opera’s 2015 Easter workshop, studying the role of ‘Despina’ (Così fan tutte). In June 2015, Brittany performed the role of ‘Pamina’ (Die Zauberflöte) with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. She also recently performed with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, made her Classical Revolution Calgary debut, and was the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Mass in C Minor with the Foothills Philharmonic Chorus and St. David’s United Chamber Choir. An avid performer and advocate of contemporary music, she competed as a semi-finalist in the 2014 Eckhardt-Grammaté National Music Competition, which focuses on showcasing contemporary music, and in particular, Canadian contemporary music. Brittany also holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto.
Pianist Claire Butler is from Yorkshire England and a graduate of the Royal College of Music, London UK. While studying piano and violin, Claire won many prizes including the Concerto Prize at Royal College of Music for her performance of Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 1. She was a national finalist of the Audi Junior Musician of the Year and a regional winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year. Claire has performed in many recitals and concerts in the UK, Greece, Bermuda and Canada. Now residing in Calgary, Claire enjoys a varied musical career freelancing as a soloist and accompanist with a small studio of students.
