Collegium Musicum (directed by Julie Harris) and Voice Lab (directed by Dr. Laura Hynes) are both performing ensembles from the University of Calgary School of Creative and Performing Arts. Combining forces with the divisions of Drama and Dance, they presented a playful, interdisciplinary take on Henry Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, exploring contemporary themes of consumption and waste.
(If you’re reading this before the final show on February 14th, come and see our staged version at the University Theatre: https://events.ucalgary.ca/arts/creative-performing-arts/#!view/event/event_id/3720)
For this ProArts@Noon concert, the Collegium Musicum students will share some of their favourite solos, duets and choruses from the Fairy Queen show, accompanied by harpsichord to highlight the beautiful baroque colours of Purcell’s music.
