Jiajia Li Chinese Music Ensemble

Classically-trained flutist Jiajia Li is being praised as “one of the city’s finest and most adventurous flautists”. She was the 2019 recipient of the “Stingray Classical Artist in Residency” at National Music Centre and 2016 recipient of Canada’s “Juno” music award micro grant. Since finishing school in Germany and moving to Calgary in 2014, Jiajia has forged her identity through music and performance, cutting across a wide range of modern musical experimentations and traditions. Tapping into contemporary music, improvisation and electronic music, Jiajia’s performances have run the gamut from concert hall appearances with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra to improvised shows with the experimental concert series Bug Incision. Jiajia has appeared in festivals including Sled Island, Calgary New Music Festival, and The Works Festival.

Jiajia Li Chinese Music Ensemble  Mid-autumn Festival is an important holiday celebrated by a large part of East and Southeast Asian people. The moon, love and family are the common themes during this time. Experience sounds from the East as flutist Jiajia Li and her friends take you on a Chinese musical journey.
