Mount Royal Kantorei Choir

As one of MRU Conservatory’s choral ensembles, Mount Royal Kantorei offers a diverse and innovative choral experience to its members and audiences. The chorus has been making exceptional choral music for 26 years. A mixed-voice, auditioned choir of 70 members from all walks of life embrace the musical journey together, while building community, engaging audiences through first-class performances, and empowering social impact by fostering collaborations.

For the past seven years, the talented John Morgan, Artistic Director, has led the choir and greatly influenced the adventurous ensemble’s growing reputation for musical excellence, be it classic, contemporary, or Canadian. With his passion for music education and performance, John works across multiple musical genres and cultivates outstanding creativity and collaboration.

Mount Royal Kantorei will be performing a choral odyssey from old to new, demonstrating the vocal skills which have earned them a reputation as one of Canada’s premier classical choirs. From All Together We Are Love by one of Canada’s most talented young composers, Katerina Gimon, to the monumental Illuminare by Elaine Hagenberg and Hurt by Eric Whittacre, Kantorei’s repertoire will explore themes of nature and belonging, human connection and hope.
