Pianist Brian Buchanan is a veteran performer who has been on the Alberta music scene for more than 30 years. He has numerous recordings to his credit and has performed with jazz legends including Clark Terry, Herb Ellis and Mark Murphy.

Brian is an integral part of the community and is a Past President of the Jazz Calgary Society. As a presenter and producer he has worked and recorded with many of Canada’s finest jazz musicians including Phil Dwyer, Don Thompson, PJ Perry and Bill Coon.

In recent years Brian has divided his time between Vancouver and Calgary and works on occasion with Norwegian Cruise Lines as a Bandmaster and leading a jazz trio.

Feature performances in 2015 included a date at Edmonton’s Yardbird Suite as part of the ‘Best of Alberta Jazz Series’, a concert appearance for Jazz Vespers at Vancouver’s St. Andrews/Wesley United Church and in a Calgary concert leading a trio behind vocal jazz great Sheila Jordan.
