Pianist Georgeanne van Helden is a 16 year old Grade 11 student at Lord Beaverbrook High School. She currently studies piano with Linda Kundert and Dr. Lana Henchell and is planning her audition program for university entrance for a Bachelor of Music degree. She successfully completed her ARCT in 2015 and LRCM in January 2017. She was a student at the Academy of Music for Gifted Youth at Mount Royal University for five years. Throughout Georgeanne’s 11 years of study, she has participated in the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, the Canadian Music Competition, the Contemporary Showcase, the Alberta Piano Teachers Association Festival, and the Alberta Performing Arts Festival. She has won numerous scholarships and a medal at the Calgary Performing Arts Festival. Georgeanne has been a National finalist in the Canadian Music Competition four times and she recently placed third in the provincial round of the CFMTA National Piano Competition in Red Deer. She won the Sharon Cook plaque in the the Alberta Performing Arts Festival in 2015. Georgeanne played a Bach Concerto with the Calgary Arts Orchestra conducted by Eileen Kosasih in 2015. She has also attended the Calgary Arts Summer School Piano Camp for 9 years. Some of Georgeanne’s hobbies are playing the clarinet, reading a lot of books, and cheering for the Calgary Stampeders football team.
