This concert brings together two dancers, Anastassiia Moussatova and Jessica Peñalver-Cote, with guitarists Michael Boyle and Holly Blazina, in an explosive mix of sound and emotion that is flamenco!
After a youth spent studying various dance forms, Anastassiia Moussatova discovered flamenco in 2006. She studies often in Spain as well as Mexico, and the USA. Some of the highlights of Anastassiia’s career include performances with The Calgary International Flamenco Festival, Flamenco Nights at Beat-Niq/Wine-Ohs, Notas de 4, Fiona Malena Flamenco Ensemble, and of course her numerous appearances with the Pro Arts@Noon concert series.
Dancer Jessica Penalver-Cote discovered her passion for flamenco at the age of 13 in her home country, Venezuela. She continued her training in Canada with the Fiona Malena Flamenco Academy and in Spain at the world-renowned Amor de Dios Flamenco School. Jessica is passionate about growing the local flamenco community and since 2011 she has served as a board member of the Calgary International Flamenco Festival.
Guitarist Michael Boyle has been playing flamenco guitar for the past 15 years and has studied flamenco with many artists. He has had the privilege of sharing the stage with many local, national, and international flamenco artists over that time.
Guitarist Holly Blazina produces her own public and in-home concerts and was a featured guest for both the Calgary and Edmonton International Flamenco Festivals, as well as performing each year at Calgary’s Classical Guitarfest West. Her upcoming recording, Transcendencia will be released October 13, 2017.
