Gai Lan Ensemble nourishes your senses with their fresh repertoire, customized arrangements, and enthusiastic performances. Led by flutist Jiajia Li, the chamber ensemble is made up of the finest Chinese instrumentalists in Alberta. From concert hall performances to weddings and private functions, Gai Lan takes you on a specialized music journey and is guaranteed a good time. 

Celebrating the Lunar New Year with Gai Lan Ensemble! Not only will we be playing some traditional tunes signifying good luck, but you’ll also hear music written for bamboo flute (Dizi), hammered dulcimer (Yangqin) and the Chinese lute (Ruan). We are also very excited to premiere new music at the concert: “Stone Sentinel Maze” by Chris Hung (Hong Kong), “Tuesday Party” by Liu Xing (China), as well as a piece specially selected for Valentine’s Day — a new arrangement for the famous “Kang Ding Love Song” by Chinese composer David Qu. -Jiajia Li
