Hello Moth is pleased to return for the seventh time to ProArts Society’s noon-hour concert series, and for the second time in conjunction with the High Performance Rodeo. Join us at the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer for a performance melding technology and ritual, with selections spanning a traditional cowboy ballad, the immaculate songcraft of Joni Mitchell, and a survey of Moth’s own diverse catalogue of original music.
Hello Moth creates abstract synth-pop by night and ambient explosions by day, blending electronic tones with folk influences to create a sound somewhere between soil and sky. Their latest releases, video single ‘Wouldn’t Do Well’ and alternative electronic EP ‘Nothing Comes Between Us,’ spent a cumulative 9 weeks on NACC charts in spring/summer 2025 thanks to airplay on college and community radio stations across Canada and the USA.
Historical Highlights
– Hello Moth released ‘birds on wires’ in 2022, praised by music blog IDIE:YOUDIE as “characteristic of what makes Hello Moth so unassuming yet intriguing, both dead simple and entirely left field.”1 The album received wide college and community radio play in Canada, with over 32 Canadian chart appearances across 16 weeks from July to November 2022. It peaked at #13 on the NACC Electronic chart, and earned Moth a nomination for Best Instrumental Artist at the 2023 Western Canadian Music Awards.
– Hello Moth’s third full-length release, ‘When the Sky Melted,’ was heard across Canada on college and community radio, appearing on more than 30 charts over 16 weeks from July 2020 to January 2021.
– CBC described sophomore album ‘Slave in a Stone’ as “the kind of innovative music-making that keeps the future of Canadian music looking bright.”2
– Debut album ‘Infinitely Repeated’ was nominated Best Electronic Album at the 2014 Western Canadian Music Awards and called a “local cult classic” by Sled Island Festival.3
– Hello Moth’s live show has taken them across Canada, into the USA, and overseas to 6 European countries. Their touring has included music festivals such as The Great Escape, Rifflandia, and Breakout West.
– Further industry recognition for Hello Moth includes winning Best Music Video for ‘A Song About Transience’ at the Alberta Media Production Industries Association’s 2017 Rosie Awards, and obtaining Platinum Certification for producing and co-writing Jocelyn Alice’s smash hit, ‘Jackpot.’
