Phoebe Powell is a Calgary-trained harpist and Royal Conservatory ARCT National gold medallist. She is also a past winner of Calgary’s C3 Competition, member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and alumna of the Calgary Youth Orchestra.
Currently on full scholarship with world-renowned harpist Judy Loman at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Phoebe presents a recital of beautiful solo harp music for the ProArts@Noon Concert series, in preparation for her participation in the 10th U.S.A. International Harp Competition in 2016.
You are warmly invited to come and share with Phoebe her intense joy in bringing to audiences some of the exquisite works written for her magnificent instrument. Allow her chosen composers – Hindemith, Debussy, Loeillet and J.S. Bach – to evoke for you scenes from past eras, including delicate Impressionism, eloquent Baroque formalism, and poignant late Romanticism, as you listen and relax in the beautiful setting of Calgary’s historic Cathedral Church of the Redeemer.
