The Rocky Mountain Symphony is pleased to return to ProArts for the third time to close out the Christmas Concert Season.
This time, the RMSO is presenting a concert of seasonal music for Trombones and Organ.
The trombone’s noble, stentorian timbre is associated with grand processions and regal ceremony. Owing to its range nearly identical to the male voice, the trombone was found in church music before any other brass instrument. Paired with the “King of Instruments”, the pipe organ, the grand possibilities are endless. Coupled with the famed acoustics of the Cathedral, we are confident you will find a newfound love for the ‘cello of the Brass Family’.
Selections will include works by Haydn and Bach. There will be a mix of sacred and popular tunes, as well as new works by Bicigo and Foggin. Mr. Foggin will improvise a Christmas Suite and fugue at the organ using tunes suggested by the audience, an exciting and ever-popular feat.
The 4 trombonists of the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra are Dylan Martin, Lilac Gilad, Greg Burns, and James Bicigo. They will be joined by RMSO Maestro, Carlos Foggin, one of Canada’s most celebrated organists.
