Calgary-based pianist Tricia Edwards maintains a busy and diverse schedule playing and performing regularly as solo artist, in jazz combo and as a member of several of Calgaryʼs busiest salsa bands including Los Marineros, Distrito Salsa and Salsonealo. Recent past performances include appearances at Africadey, Marda Gras, Lolitaʼs Just Jazz Series, Calgaryʼs International Jazz Day celebrations, Cliff Bungalow Jazz Series, University of Calgary Monday Night Jazz Series, Taste of Calgary, Sylvan Lake Jazz Festival, Lilac Festival, Calgary Jazz Festival, Fiestaval Calgary, Fiestaval Red Deer and Expo Latino. Tricia was the recipient of the 2009 Richard Harold Cowie scholarship, given by the Calgary Musicianʼs Association. She released her debut jazz CD “Joyspring” in March Tricia earned both Masters and Bachelorʼs degrees in classical piano performance from the University of Alberta, studying with Dr Ernesto Lejano, Dr. Joachim Segger and Dr. Stephane Lemelin. She did summer study programs at the Banff Centre and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. During this time, she performed with the University of Alberta Orchestra as winner of the U. of A. Concerto Competition, won the Edmonton Kiwanis Festivalʼs Lorraine Downey scholarship competition and was national finalist in the Canadian Music Competition in Ottawa, Ontario. Tricia will also be returning to teaching at the Mount Royal Conservatory in the fall of 2014.

 

steve photoStephen Williams is a saxophonist from Calgary who has travelled the world playing music. From Scandinavia to Hawaii, he has found his passion in jazz, Latin, blues and pop music. Being active mostly in Latin music, he is known for his sincere and witty playing. He has performed with numerous bands in town, including Los Marineros, Latin Combo, Distrito Salsa and also acts such as Elvis Crespo, Los Adoloscentes and El Canario.
