“Very, very good avant fusion” (Guitar Player magazine) captures the essence of The Elliot Freedman Group’s music: harmonically elegant, rhythmically muscular, and an uncompromisingly adventurous update on the electric jazz of the 1970s.
Elliot, whose baritone guitars accentuate his innovative chordal work, is thrilled be reunited – thanks to the ProArts Society–with musical friends in Calgary: drummer Paolo Federico, flautist Ai Hagiwara, and pianist Anthony Czarnecki.
Elliot, who spent his formative years in Calgary, will–with the group, on solo classical guitar, and in a duo with flute–present some of his own compositions, plus pieces by Keith Jarrett, Kenny Wheeler, Bill Evans, and others. Anthony will also present a selection of his classical/jazz pieces.
