ANNA POMPEEVA, SOPRANO
Anna Pompeeva came to Calgary in January 2023 from Ukraine. She is a professional opera singer with more than 10 years of experience throughout the world, Anna graduated from the Kharkiv Institute of Arts in 2012. In 2017, she received her PhD in Art History. From 2012-2015, Anna was the soloist of the Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic Society. In 2013, she was the soloist of the Kharkiv National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
While participating in numerous concert performances, Anna has toured extensively throughout Europe, including the countries of Spain, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. Anna is the prizewinner of 3 international European competitions. In 2021, Anna received Special Distinction for her “Great contribution to the creative life of the region”.
Since relocating to Calgary, Anna has collaborated with local major music institutions (Calgary Opera and the Calgary Civic Symphony), and other presenters in Canada (Orchestre Classique de Montréal with Maestro Jacques Lacombe). In April 2024, Anna was a principal soprano in Calgary Opera’s “Das Rheingold” with Maestro Jonathan Brandani and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. She recently signed a contract for the upcoming season with Edmonton Opera to sing one of the lead roles in Wagner`s “Die Walkure” in their new production in May–June 2025). In addition to these big-stage productions, Anna has sung in many different performances on private and public stages within and around Calgary, Canmore, and Banff. She is an active volunteer participant in events that support Ukrainian efforts and to popularize Ukrainian culture within our communities.
Presently, to supplement her income and to support her family, Anna is working part time as a piano and voice teacher at Yamaha Music Academy.
Olesia Voloshchuk, pianist

Olesia Voloshchuk is a highly accomplished Ukrainian-born pianist and piano teacher. Growing up in a family of musicians, Olesia’s life has always revolved around music. Her piano journey began at the tender age of six, and her passion for the instrument has only grown stronger over time. Olesia studied at the prestigious Lviv Music College and later graduated from the Lviv State Music Academy with a Bachelor’s and a Master degree in Piano Performance, Piano Accompanying, Piano Teaching and Chamber Ensemble Playing.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, Olesia has nurtured the musical abilities of countless students. She has worked as a piano teacher and accompanist in specialized music schools and the State Academic Choir in Ukraine. Additionally, she has served as a pianist at the prestigious Shangri-la Hotel and a piano teacher at Shanghai Pudong Dulwich College.
Olesia’s teaching experience spans a wide range of ages and skill levels, from five-years-olds to adult learners, and from beginners to advanced players. Her ultimate goal as an educator is to enrich the lives of her students by providing them with a deep understanding of music, foresting their enjoyment of the art, and igniting their musical imagination. With her patient and encouraging teaching style, Olesia inspires her students to reach their full potential and develop a lifelong love for music.
