Soprano Katie McCullough and collaborative Pianist HyunMi Park will be presenting a collection of Mexican, Spanish, and Korean art songs that showcase a blend of classical vocal style and folk music, as well as a selection of our favourite opera arias.
They’ll be featuring works from Manuel Ponce, Fernando Obradors, Sung-Tae Kim and Giacomo Puccini to name a few.
They are looking forward to sharing these songs with the Calgary community and to celebrate the universal language of music with classical songs from around the world!
Katie McCullough, Soprano
Katie has cultivated a musical journey shaped by her love of music, artistic curiosity, and passion for connecting with others through song. On stage, Katie has brought her artistry to a variety of operatic roles including Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Frasquita in Carmen, Nannetta in Falstaff. She has appeared as a featured soloist with the Calgary Civic Symphony, the Calgary Korean Canadian Choir, the Instrumental Society of Calgary, Opera Lirica Society, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
In 2013, Katie won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions – Western Canada and was also awarded the People’s Choice Award. She was further recognized as an award recipient at the 2014 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions – Northwest Regional Auditions. She trained at The Centre for Opera Studies in Sulmona, Italy and the European Music Academy in Teplice, Czech Republic. Katie earned a Diploma in Voice Performance from Mount Royal University, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Ambrose University, and a Master’s Degree in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia.

HyunMi Park, Collaborative Pianist
HyunMi Park graduated from the prestigious Seoul Arts High School and obtained a Bachelor in Piano Performance from HanYang University in South Korea. She has also received a certificate from AIDM Academy in Rome, Italy. With a deep understanding and a love for voice, HyunMi has worked as an opera repetiteur at the Seoul National Opera, Maria Pellegrini in Ottawa, and Cowtown Opera in Calgary. She is very active as a vocal collaborator in Canada, USA and South Korea.
