Yunzhi Han is 15 years old and started piano lessons at the age of 4 in Beijing, China. He currently studies with Natalia Molochnikov and participated in his first Calgary Kiwanis Festival in 2008. Yunzhi had great success in that first year and has continued to this day. He has participated in the Provincial Festival, taking first place in the 12 and under and 16 and under Solo and Concerto classes. In 2013, Yunzhi won the Calgary Concerto Competition and had the opportunity to perform with the Calgary Civic Symphony in the Jack Singer Concert Hall.
This year, Yunzhi received the highest mark in the Calgary Kiwanis Festival and was awarded the prestigious Rose Bowl and $5,000 scholarship for his efforts. Next week he will travel to Edmonton and represent the Calgary Festival as the Provincial-National piano candidate at the Provincial Festival. He will also have the opportunity to perform with the CPO during their 2014-2015 concert season.
Canadian Soprano Jessica Türje is originally from Vancouver and completed a Bachelor of Music with a specialization in Voice from the University of Toronto in 2011. Ms. Türje is currently located in Calgary to continue her studies as an apprentice at the Vocal Arts Institute of Alberta with Heather Meyers and Cory Miller. Ms. Türje performed in the Stars of the Kiwanis Festival in April and will be representing Calgary in the provincial competition at the end of May.
