MASS ENERGY Chorale Event

On Wednesday, November 30, 2011 ProArts@Noon Concert Series will present three of Calgary’s Oilpatch choirs – affectionately known as “Energy” Choirs!

This year’s very special MASS choir presentation will feature:

The Talisman Energy Choir is a recreational choir formed in the Spring of 2002, under the direction of Theresa Wasden, and accompanied by local artist Ron Proctor at the piano. This four-part choir performs in the Spring and during the Christmas season and takes the role of company ambassador seriously, performing at various downtown and community venues.  Highlights for the Talisman Energy Choir include having released “Wreath of Carols”, a full-length CD fundraiser for the United Way of Calgary, and most recently, a “Feel the Energy” mass energy choir concert. This corporate choir continues to challenge itself with more complex pieces, mixing contemporary favourites with classical compositions, and having a lot of fun along the way!

ConocoPhillips Choir, formerly Gulf Canada Choir, is one of the oldest of the oil patch choirs, starting around 40 years ago! The choir’s members include employees and retirees of various companies, from amateur to trained singers! They can be found entertaining morning commuters in the +15 in Gulf Canada a week before Christmas, and maybe in other places soon!

The Suncor Energy Choir, formerly the Petro-Canada Chorale, has been singing for nearly forty years.  Originally comprised of only company employees, the choir also brings together others, most of whom work downtown, who love to sing.  The choir rehearses Wednesday lunch hours September through June and performs frequently throughout the year in the downtown core, at seniors residences, and community sponsored events.   If singing at lunchtime is something that you would like to be involved in, please call Bruce Campbell, President of the Suncor Energy Choir, at (403) 296-6876 or email him at bkcampbell@suncor.com.
