Writers&Authors – a Wordfest co-presentation
Wordfest sparks lively, illuminating and meaningful conversations between Calgary’s readers and the world’s most engaging writers. Their year-round literary events culminate in a 10-day festival every October, and are programmed to inspire Calgarians to live more creative and empathetic lives. ProArts co-presentation features four Festival authors.
Ayush Ghosh, classical Sitar
Ayush is one of the rare artists to have performed for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Known today as the youngest well known sitar player in the world, Ayush truly is a Cultural and Diversity Ambassador of Canada.
Calgary Flamenco Festival collaboration
Although there is no actual Festival this year, we are pleased to be presenting this Flamenco at Noon concert in collaboration with the Calgary International Flamenco Festival, as part of their yearly activities. Brittany Rae, soprano with Claire Butler, piano
Calgarian soprano Brittany Rae, recently completed a Master of Arts in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In June 2015, Brittany performed the role of ‘Pamina’ (Die Zauberflöte) with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. She is accompanied by prize winning pianist Claire Butler, a graduate of the Royal College of Music, London UK.

Allen Reiser is an ARCT Gold Medalist of the Toronto Conservatory of Music and has been honoured by Calgary’s Mount Royal College with a Distinguished Faculty/Teaching Award.
Moël (Mewael Hadera); singer-songwriter
Moël (Mewael Hadera) is a singer-songwriter from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. After moving to Calgary, Alberta in late 2014, he started writing soulful acoustic-pop songs filled with emotion.

Featuring students from Mount Royal University Conservatory’s Academy and Advanced Performance Program.
This concert presents music of Robert de Visée, a lutenist in the court of Louis XIV, played by Tim Janz on one-keyed Baroque flute and Ralph Maier playing the theorbo, the long necked lute that was developed by the Florentine Camerata as a continuo instrument.
