The mission of Cowtown Opera Company is to increase the number of opera enthusiasts in Calgary by providing fun and interactive opera experiences.
Lonnie Saunders has been awarded the Silver Heart for Female New Artist of the year and Female Vocalist, the Silver Heart for Psalmist of the year and Female Entertainer of the year, and International Female Artist of the year.
Marnie Giesbrecht and Joachim Segger are Duo Majoya. Their duo repertoire includes piano duets, organ duets and duets for organ and piano. Concert programs are eclectic and innovative, including a broad range of original, commissioned and arranged works.
Alex Boisselle is a Roots/Blues slide guitar/harmonica singer/songwriter recently signed to the EAR DRUM VALLEY label. He was picked out of a nationwide demo submission in the summer of 2009 and was awarded a label funded recording deal including mixing, mastering and promotion.
International prize-winning organist Neil Cockburn has been a central figure in the development of a musical culture of the pipe organ in Calgary and Western Canada for the past nine years. Celebrated for his diverse repertoire interests and expertise, he is known particularly for his many concerto performances with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
Described as a dancer of “unique and mesmerizing talent,” Fiona Malena received her training and formation as a dancer in Seville, Spain. Her acclaimed mentors and teachers include Farruquito, Juana Amaya, Concha Vargas and Andrés Marín, among others.
Lukas Sulzer is a composer, and since 2008 he is active as a singer with the choir "ad libitum". Felix has sung in various choirs and played viola in a number of ensembles.
Ara has taken her music across the world haven played in Ghana, the UK, Paris, and various states in the USA. Ara has performed before the Queen of England, she has also performed alongside big names in the industry including Wyclef Jean and the legendary Stevie Wonder.
An accomplished performer, Tim has won First Prize in numerous regional and national competitions including the Arthur Poister Memorial Competition (2008), the John Rodland Memorial Competition (2002), the A.G.O./Quimby Region II Competition (2001) and the Royal Canadian College of Organists’ National Competition (2001).
Barbara King, co-founder of the Calgary Concert Opera Company (CCOC), is thrilling audiences with her “exquisite vocal command of a three octave range” and the possession of a “warm, agile mezzo-soprano voice”. A native of Montréal, Québec, Barbara currently resides in Calgary, Alberta, where she sang as Countess Ceprano with Calgary Opera in Rigoletto.
